Helping families eliminate the overwhelm that comes with the vast choices & the ambiguity of the college application process.
I started Paris Educational Solutions at the twilight of my parenting years. As a mother of 4 and surrogate mother to many others, there is only one absolute in education: no two children or teenagers are exactly alike. Once I gave up the idea that there was a formula that would yield "success" for my kids I found my parenting journey took me down 4 unique paths. And while each path was unique and yielded distinct outcomes, there were some commonalities.
Each of my children thrived academically and personally when I sought out opportunities to match the child rather than trying to make the child fit the opportunities I had pre-selected.
As my children went through the college admission process I found myself studying college admissions. While navigating the process I grew a soft spot for student athletes. When it came time to join the paid workforce again I found college counseling brought together both my passion for education and love of teenagers.
If you are a parent of a high school or soon to be high school student you have likely started to hear about the rising cost and the intensity of competition for admissions.
Allow me to be an expert voice on all things college admissions on your behalf. I have a zeal and excitement to keep up with the changing landscape so that you don’t have to try to learn in short order what I have learned over years. In short, my goal is to offer my students and families calm in the midst of the college admissions storm.
First and foremost, I want every parent and student to understand that getting to college is not about pursuing entrance into a specific short list of schools with single digit acceptance rates. Helping a student get to a best fit college is less about the application per se and more about helping the student know themselves. Starting as early as spring of the 8th grade year I like to guide my students through a 4 step building process.
The goal is to launch each student as independent and self-aware developing adults to a college that is a good fit academically, social and financial for them and their family. During your consultation we will dig deeper into how each step builds on the last and how my unique approach serves students.
April's College Counseling and Early High School Guidance Programs are available as comprehensive packages only. During the early high school years she works with students as early as 8th grade as they begin selecting their first set of high school classes. April helps the student to understand themselves and make solid decisions about their class schedule and activities minimizes surprises later on and reduces stress for everyone. As students enter into their Junior year and start thinking about the application process, April's college counseling program builds on the work done during the early high school years which includes guidance on testing, the college list, major selection and career interests, essays, scholarships, and more.
If your student is interested in pursuing their sport at the collegiate level (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA ) April is here to assist as they navigate the complicated and often confusing process of athletic recruiting. As an educational consultant she can help ensure your child is and remains eligible to compete at the college level. Aspiring to be a college athlete does not eliminate the need to find the student's best college but rather adds another layer to the process.
