Four Steps to Build Your College Future
First and foremost, I want every parent and student to understand that getting to college is not about pursuing entrance into a specific short list of schools with single digit acceptance rates. Helping a student get to a best fit college is less about the application per se and more about helping the student know themselves. Starting as early as spring of the 8th grade year I like to guide my students through a 4 step building process.

The goal is to launch each student as independent and self-aware developing adults to a college that is a good fit academically, social and financial for them and their family. During your consultation we will dig deeper into how each step builds on the last and how my unique approach serves students.

Service Packages
During the early high school years April works with students as early as 8th grade as they begin selecting their first set of high school classes. She helps the student to understand themselves and make solid decisions about their class schedule and activities minimizes surprises later on and reduces stress for everyone.

Early High School Guidance (Grades 8-10)
Helping students make early academic decisions, including course selection, extracurricular advising, summer planning, and student profile surveys. Tailored for grades 8-10 to reduce stress and set up for success.
Test Prep (ACT/SAT)
Comprehensive test preparation for ACT or SAT with a customized study plan to maximize your score.
Includes practice tests, targeted strategies, and ongoing support.
Comprehensive College Counseling
As students enter into their Junior year and start thinking about the application process, April's college counseling program builds on the work done during the early high school years which includes guidance on testing, the college list, major selection and career interests, essays, scholarships, and more.
Full college counseling package including:
- Course selection and academic guidance
- SAT/ACT prep and testing recommendations
- College list building
- Application planning
- Essay review (up to 12 applications)
- Interview prep
- Scholarship guidance
- Financial fit and major selection guidance
Single Application Review
Includes a review of one college application and one supplemental essay.
Ideal for finalizing a specific application.
College Essay Prep
In-depth essay guidance, including brainstorming, drafting, and review for personal and supplemental essays. Focused support to make each essay stand out.
Athletic Recruiting Guidance
If your student is interested in pursuing their sport at the collegiate level (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA ) April is here to assist as they navigate the complicated and often confusing process of athletic recruiting.
As an educational consultant April can help ensure your child is and remains eligible to compete at the college level.
